On 11 April you would have received an update from National Highways detailing the upcoming National Emergency Area Retrofit programme in the south east.
As your aware work is due to start on the M25 and M3 from 25 April. We’re therefore updating you on our planned overnight closures to allow the traffic management to be installed.
Please do consider these closures when planning your journey.
Our overnight closures usually start from 9pm and finish by 5.30am Monday to Thursday and 11pm to 6am Friday but this can change depending on the volume of traffic and when we can close the road safely.
Week commencing 22 April 2024:
- M25 junction 5 to 6 – the M25 junction 5 to 6 clockwise and anti-clockwise including all relevant slip, linking roads and M26 southbound to M25 junction 5 will be closed overnight on Thursday 25 April 2024.
- Diversion: M25 junction 5 to 6 clockwise
- Diversion: M25 junction 6 to 5 anti-clockwise
- M25 junction 6 to 5 – the M25 junction 6 to 5 anti-clockwise including all relevant slip and linking roads will be closed overnight on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 April 2024.
- Diversion: M25 junction 6 to 5 anti-clockwise
- M25 junction 5 to 6 – the M25 junction 5 to 6 clockwise including all relevant slip, linking roads and M26 southbound to M25 junction 5 will be closed overnight on Sunday 28 April 2024.
- Diversion: M25 junction 5 to 6 clockwise
Week commencing 29 April 2024:
- M3 junction 2 to 3 – the M3 junction 2 to 3 southbound including all relevant slip and linking roads will be closed overnight on Monday 29 April 2024.
- Diversion:M3 junction 2 to 3 southbound
- M3 junction 4a to 2 – the M3 junction 4a to 2 northbound including all relevant slip roads will be closed overnight on Tuesday 30 April 2024.
- Diversion: M3 junction 4a to 2 northbound
- M3 junction 4a to 3 – the M3 junction 4a to 3 northbound including all relevant slip roads will be closed overnight on Wednesday 1 May 2024.
- Diversion: M3 junction 4a to 3 northbound
- M3 junction 3 to 4a – the M3 junction 3 to 4a southbound including all relevant slip and linking roads will be closed overnight on Thursday 2 May 2024.
- Diversion: M3 junction 3 to 4a southbound
- M25 junction 23 to 25 – the M25 junction 23 to 25 clockwise including all relevant slip and linking roads will be closed overnight on Tuesday 30 April and Thursday 2 May 2024.
Please note there are also planned closure on the M11 between junctions 8 and 7 southbound. Their and our diversion links therefore we’ve included this closure on the diversion map below:
- Diversion: M25 junction 23 to 25 clockwise
- M25 junction 25 to 23 – the M25 junction 25 to 23 anti-clockwise including all relevant slip and linking roads will be closed overnight on Wednesday 1 and Friday 3 May 2024.
Please note there are also planned closure on the M11 between junctions 8 and 7 southbound. Their and our diversion links therefore we’ve included this closure on the diversion map below:
- Diversion:M25 junction 25 to 23 anti-clockwise
- M25 junction 25 to 23 – the M25 junction 25 to 23 anti-clockwise including all relevant slip and linking roads will be closed overnight on Saturday 4 May 2024.
- Diversion: M25 junction 25 to 23 anti-clockwise
- M25 junction 23 to 25 – the M25 junction 23 to 25 clockwise including all relevant slip and linking roads will be closed overnight on Sunday 5 and Monday 6 May 2024.
- Diversion: M25 junction 23 to 25 clockwise
Our diversion routes are designed to suit all vehicle types.
We advise you not to use a Satnav when following any of our diversions because there is a risk it could direct you down an unsuitable road or back onto our network when it is closed.

Please be aware that on Friday 10 May to Monday 13 May – the M25 will be closed for a weekend.
From 9pm Friday 10 May to 6am Monday 13 May, there will be a full closure of the M25 in both directions between junction 9 (Leatherhead) and junction 10 (Wisley). For the most up to date information please visit: www.nationalhighways.co.uk/m25j10.
