National Highways operates, maintains and improves England’s motorways and major A-roads. This is to let you know National Highways will shortly be carrying out essential bridge deck refurbishment works over the M2 at Faversham. This maintenance to the structure that takes the A251 Ashford road over the M2, will extend the bridges lifespan and safety for years to come.
The work will start on the evening of Monday 8 and finish on the morning of Monday 29 April, and will take place under a mixture of weeknight and full weekend closures.
We’ll need to fully close the A251 Ashford road between the M2 slip roads (including the southbound layby for the duration of the work):
- Monday 8 to Thursday 11 April for 4 weeknights, 8pm to 6am each night
- Full weekend: 8pm Friday 12 to 6am Monday 15 April
- Monday 15 to Thursday 18 April for 4 weeknights, 8pm to 6am each night
- Full weekend: 8pm Friday 19 to 6am Monday 22 April
- Monday 22 to Thursday 25 April for 4 weeknights, 8pm to 6am each night
- Full weekend: 8pm Friday 26 to 6am Monday 29 April
There will be fully signed diversion routes in place during the closures which you can view on our webpage, but please allow extra time for your journey.
Access for residents will be maintained but may involve a short delay depending on our stage of work. Please show a copy of this postcard or speak to our gatemen who will escort you through the works if necessary.
We’ll make every effort to ensure any noise impact on the local community is kept to a minimum. We always aim to work to the programme, however unforeseen circumstances or adverse weather conditions may mean changes. Keep an eye on X (@HighwaysSEAST) or visit our webpage: nationalhighways.co.uk/se-maintenance – just look for M2 junction 6 bridge repairs – where we’ll post more information.
