A251 Ashford Road, Faversham (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2024 National Highways works.



To allow full bridge deck refurbishment (deck re-waterproofing, resurfacing and replacing the expansion joints) on the M2 Faversham-Ashford Overbridge, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part
of the A251 Ashford Road, Faversham.

Closures are planned from 26th February 2024, with estimated completion by 26th April 2024, or where stated on a valid Permit (FN40449725784-01 National Highways). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signage displayed on site and the works will be displayed on One.Network

Closures will be on the following dates:-
From 20.00 hours on 26th February 2024, with estimated completion by 06.00 hours on 27th February 2024.
From 20.00 hours on 27th February 2024, with estimated completion by 06.00 hours on 28th February 2024 (contingency shift).
From 20.00 hours on Friday 12th April 2024, with estimated completion by 06.00 hours on Monday 14th April 2024.
From 15th April 2024, with estimated completion by 18th April 2024, between the hours of 20.00 and 06.00 (contingency shifts).
From 20.00 hours on Friday 19th April 2024, with estimated completion by 06.00 hours on Monday 21st April 2024.
From 22nd April 2024, with estimated completion by 26th April 2024, between the hours of 20.00 and 06.00 (contingency shifts).

The A251 Ashford Road will be closed in the vicinity of the M2 Faversham Ashford Overbridge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while bridge deck refurbishment works are undertaken by National Highways.

The alternative route for any through traffic:-
Motorway traffic southbound – turn right and merge M2 (Coast bound) through slip road on junction 6, continue M2 until junction 7, on junction 7 turn around through Brenley Corner roundabout, merge M2 London bound, travel M2 until junction 6 and leave through off-slip onto A251 Ashford Road.
Motorway traffic northbound – turn right and merge M2 (London bound) through slip road on junction 6, continue M2 until junction 5, on junction 5 leave M2 on Stockbury roundabout, take second exit on roundabout and join M2 (Coast bound) through on-slip, travel M2 until junction 6 and leave through off-slip ontoA251 Ashford Road.

Non-motorway diversion is via the A251 Ashford Road, Faversham Road, A252 Canterbury Road, The Street, Molash, Maidstone Road, A28 Canterbury Road, Ashford Road, Thanington Road, Wincheap, Wincheap Green, A2050 Rheims Way, Harbledown By-pass, Harbledown on slip (off slip in reverse), A2 Boughton bypass, Brenley Roundabout, London Road, Canterbury Road, A251 Ashford Road and vice versa.
