This year is the 90th anniversary of the first flight of the iconic Supermarine Spitfire. On 5th March 1936, the Supermarine Spitfire prototype had its flight to become the new Fighter plane for the RAF.
Faversham, in 1940 raised £1,100 towards a Supermarine Spitfire which was named ‘Faversham No. P8506’.
To commemorate this a 5ft model Supermarine Spitfire is going to be given some TLC by the Air Training Corps.
They are hoping to bring it along to the ‘Faversham Festival of Transport’ on 17th May and to the ‘Faversham in the 40’s Celebrates Armed Forces Day’ on 14th June.
