Various Roads, Swale – Preservation Treatment (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY 20 MPH SPEED RESTRICTIONS) THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2026 Kent County Council works.


To allow the Surface Preservation Scheme to take place, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of various roads throughout Swale.

This order takes effect on or after 19th January 2026 for up to 18 months. It maybe necessary for some of the roads to be closed on multiple occasions for each phase of the works. Planned dates will be published in advance of the works
on One.Network and indicated by signage displayed on site 14 days before they start.

After the Surface Treatment works are complete, temporary speed restrictions of 20 mph may be imposed for a period of up to 7 days, these will be clearly indicated by relevant signs displayed on site.

These works are subject to weather conditions and other factors which may potentially cause changes at short notice. Every effort will be made to keep as close as possible to the planned dates and any changes will be publicised.

Road Closures & Speed Restrictions

Swanton Street, Bredgar
The road will be closed between the junctions with Bicknor Lane and Frinsted Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Frinsted Lane, The Street, Bottom Pond Road, Frinstead Lane Junction With The Street Wormshill To Gossy Hill Road Junction With Lime Kiln Road, Bedmonton to Bottom Pond Road, Wormshill, Bottom Pond Road, Bexon Lane, The Street, Swanton Street and vice versa.

Oad Street, Borden
The road will be closed between the junctions with Maidstone Road and Munsgore Lane (Sunnyhill Road), to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Maidstone Road, Chestnut Street, Key Street Roundabout, A2 Key Street, Wises Lane, Pond Farm Road, Oad Street and vice versa.

Sutton Baron Road, Borden
The road will be closed between the junctions with Pond Farm Road and Wrens Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Wrens Road, Hearts Delight, Bannister Hill, The Street, Pond Farm Road, Sutton Baron Road and vice versa.

Brogdale Road, Ospringe
The road will be closed between the junctions with Matthew Close and Plumford Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Whitehill, Eastling Road,

Painters Forstal Road, Water Lane, A2 Ospringe Street, A2 London Road, Brogdale Road and vice versa.

Broadoak Road, Milstead & Tunstall

The road will be closed between the junctions with Ruins Barn Road and Bottom Pond Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Bottom Pond Road, Highsted Valley, Cromers Road, Ruins Barn Road and vice versa.

Hearts Delight Road, Tunstall
The road will be closed between the junctions with Wrens Road and Tunstall Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Tunstall Road, Woodstock Road, Bell Road, Crown Quay Lane, A2 St Michaels Road, Dover Street, West Street, London Road, Borden Lane, Bannister Hill, Hearts Delight, Hearts Delight Road and vice versa.

Ruins Barn Road, Tunstall
The road will be closed between the junctions with Cromers Road and Broadoak Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Cromers Road, Highsted Valley, Bottom Pond Road, Broad Oak Road, Ruins Barn Road and vice versa.

Lower Road, Barrow Green, Buckland & Teynham
The road will be closed between the railway crossing and the junction with Conyer Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Lower Road, Bysing Wood Road, Luddenham Hill, B2045 Westen Link, A2 London Road, Station Road, The Crescent and vice versa.

Down Court Road, Doddington & Milstead
The road will be closed between the junctions with Chequers Hill and Sawpit Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Chequers Hill, Doddington Lane, Christophers Row, The Street, Lynsted Lane, A2 London Road, The Street, Panteny Lane, Church Street, Pitstock Road, Sawpit Road and vice versa.

Eastling Road, Eastling & Painters Forstal
The road will be closed between the junction with Bayfield and the Pumping Station, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Whitehill, Brogdale Road, A2 London Road, A251 Ashford Road, A251 Faversham Road, A252 Canterbury Road, A252 Charing Hill, A20 Maidstone Road, A20 Ashford Road, Hubbards Hill, Warren Street, Bunce Court Road, Otterden Road, Eastling Road and vice versa.

Hazebrouck Road, Faversham
The road will be closed between the junctions with Wildish Road and Judd Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Hazebrouck Road, The Knole, The Leas, Bysing Wood Road, Wildish Road and vice versa.

Wildish Road, Faversham
The road will be closed in its entirety and carried out in two phases, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Wildish Road, Bysing Wood Road and vice versa.

Perry Wood, Selling
The road will be closed between the junctions with Beeches Road and Selling Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Beeches Road, Stonestile Lane, Selling Road and vice versa.

The restrictions are required for the safety of the public and workforce while the Surface Preservation Scheme is undertaken by Kent County Council.
