Faversham Town Council joins the nation in mourning the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

In a statement, the Mayor of Faversham, Cllr Trevor Martin said “It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of Queen Elizabeth II. I would like to express our sincere condolences on behalf of Faversham Town Council and the people of Faversham to the Royal Family. Her Majesty was was the longest ruling Monarch in British History who was much loved and respected across the World. She was an important figurehead for the Country and Commonwealth with a sense of duty and devotion to a life of service.”

Following today’s announcement from Buckingham Palace, the union flag will be flown at half mast on the Guildhall as a mark of respect.

A Book of Condolence will open at the Town Hall, Market Place tomorrow at 10am and will remain open until 4pm of the day following the funeral.

People wishing to lay a floral tribute can do so from Friday at the War Memorial Garden in Stone Street.
