FAVERSHAM, Kent — Swale Borough Council’s Community Governance Review (CGR) consultation is now open, presenting an important opportunity for local people to have their say on future local governance arrangements within Faversham and across the borough.
The CGR consultation sets out a series of proposed changes affecting various parts of Swale, including key proposals for Faversham, such as extending the Watling Ward boundary, transferring a small area south of the M2 to Sheldwich Parish Council, increasing representation for Priory Ward, and restructuring Watling Ward into two separate wards with three councillors each.
Town and parish councils are the most local tier of government, playing a vital role in representing residents’ views, enhancing local services, and enabling communities to directly influence decisions about their area. The review offers a chance to ensure that governance arrangements reflect the unique identity, interests, and needs of local communities.
“We want to make sure that every voice in Faversham is heard and that our local governance structures work effectively for our residents,” said a spokesperson for Faversham Town Council. “This consultation is a great way for people to help shape how local decisions are made and how our community will be represented going forward.”
The consultation runs until 9th February 2026. Residents are urged to visit Swale Borough Council’s website to read the full details and complete the consultation form.
