This year is the 90th anniversary of the first flight of the iconic Supermarine Spitfire. On 5th March 1936, the Supermarine Spitfire prototype had its flight to become the new Fighter plane for the RAF.
To commemorate this special flight the Battle of Britain memorial flight and other Supermarine Spitfire owners will be flying their Spitfires around the British Isles with up to date RAF aircraft as escorts, between 7th-17th April 2026.
Faversham, in 1940 raised £1,100 towards a Supermarine Spitfire which was named ‘Faversham No. P8506’.
To commemorate this a 5ft model Supermarine Spitfire is going to be given some TLC by the Air Training Corps. Look out for this and other information in the Market Place on 11th April, 2026.
