A2 Canterbury Road, Sittingbourne (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2023


To allow replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of A2 Canterbury Road, Sittingbourne.

A closure is planned from 22.00 hours on 20th July 2023, with estimated completion by 05.00 hours on 21st July 2023, or where stated on a valid Permit (LQ003SWAT12557458-03 – Southern Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signage displayed on site and the works will be displayed on One.Network

A2 Canterbury Road will be closed at the junction with School Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while replacement works are undertaken by Southern Water.

The alternative route for vehicles travelling East is via A2 East Street, St Michaels Road, Dover Street, West Street, London Road, Key Street, Key Street Roundabout, A249 Maidstone Road, M2 J5 On slip, M2, M2 J6 Off Slip, A251 Ashford Road, A2 Canterbury Road, London Road, Ospringe Street, London Road, The Street, Fox Hill, Canterbury Road.

The alternative route for vehicles travelling West is via A2 Canterbury Road, Fox Hill, The Street, London Road, Ospringe Street, London Road, Canterbury Road, A251 Ashford Road, M2 J6 On Slip, M2, M2 J5 Off Slip, A249 Maidstone Road, A2 Key Street Roundabout, Key Street, London Road, West Street, St Michaels Road, East Street.

A non-motorway diversion route will be in place on the night of the works.
