Statement from Faversham Town Council

Everyone at Faversham Town Council has been shocked, appalled and saddened to hear about the hateful graffiti and destruction of a Faversham Pride banner at West Faversham Community Centre this week.

Sadly, these incidents appear to be directed at the upcoming Faversham Pride event.

Faversham Pride is a celebration of people coming together in love and friendship. It is about acceptance, equality and celebrating the local LGBTQIA+ community.

The Town Council believes , homophobic, biphobic, transphobic or any hateful behaviour due to a person’s sexuality or gender identity is unacceptable in our society and in this town.

Faversham Pride plays an important role in bringing our community together and the Town Council fully supports this event.

As a council regardless of political allegiance, we are working with the organisers to ensure Faversham Pride thrives not only in 2024 but for many years to come.”
