We are very pleased to announce as featured on ITV News MeridianSir Loyal Heart- The young Henry VIII will be making his appearance in Faversham for Medieval and Tudor Faversham on Sunday 29th September.
History Fact:
Henry VIII ruled England from 1509 until his death in 1547, well known for his voracious appetite. He enjoyed banquets so much he extended the kitchen of Hampton Court Palace to fill 55 rooms.
The 200 members of the kitchen staff provided meals up to 14 courses for 600 people in the King’s Court.
Join Henry VIII in the Guildhall for a talk “A Feast fit for a King” where his Majesty the King will talk about food and manners when feasting.
1pm – 1.30pm & 3pm -3.30pm in the Guildhall

A maximum of 40 people may attend each talk and will last 30 minutes.

Cancionero are an Early Music Group who perform the songs and dance music of the Middle Ages and early Renaissance music from the Tudor court playing a range of fascinating period instruments including lutes, shawms, bagpipes, recorders, fiddles, harp and hurdy gurdy.
We are pleased to announce Cancionero will be joining us for Medieval and Tudor Faversham opening the event at 10.00am and then continued performances during the day at 11.30am 1.30pm and 2.30pm.
Children’s Entertainment
Merryman the Jester will be out and about at Medieval and Tudor Faversham performing his mix of hilarious medieval street magic and juggling.
Always there with a funny line or some visual comedy, do please come up and say hello… shake his hand and see if you can stretch his arm, listen as he squeaks your head, or watch in wonderment as literally almost hundreds of balls pop out his mouth….
Top quality street magic, not too bad juggling, and more buffoonery than you can shake a balloon at !!!

HISTORY FACT
By the mid-sixteenth century all three major branches of medicine; physic, pharmacy, and surgery, had legally defined rights and duties based on practitioners’ supposed levels and quality of knowledge.
In practice, during the medieval and early post-medieval periods, the situation was far more complex.
Join Surgeon Lamberton and his collection of sharp pointy things, to delve into the fascinating and often gruesome world of early surgery and wider medical practice.
The Silkewoman at Medieval Needle– The Silkewoman is a demonstrator and practitioner of insanely time-consuming historic silkwork. Serving museums, historic sites and interested individuals, she loves teaching these ancient skills to anyone who is interested. Her carefully researched, colourful display explains the journey of silk from worm and cocoon, through to finished luxury accessories made by silk women. The techniques of tablet weaving, braiding, netting, amongst others are brought to life.
Historic Silkwork will be located amongst the Market at Medieval and Tudor Faversham with demonstrations of hand-knotted silk hairnets, tablet-woven and finger-loop braided narrow-ware, and embroidered textiles.

The Wheat Weaver will be demonstrating handcrafted traditional and contemporary straw work and corn dollies as part of Medieval and Tudor Faversham We look forward to seeing these wonderful creations.
The Companye of Merrie Folke are joining us Medieval and Tudor Faversham a dedicated and experienced group of re-enactors portraying the daily lives of the common people and Gentry alike in the Medieval and Tudor periods.
