Faversham Rallies to Protect Ham Marshes with £35,600 Pledged, But More Support Needed!

Faversham residents and supporters have shown incredible community spirit in the campaign to Save Ham Marshes, with £35,600 pledged so far towards the £100,000 target needed to fund the legal challenge against the proposed large-scale housing development on this much-loved landscape.

The response has been inspiring, with pledges ranging from £5 upwards, from people who care deeply about protecting Faversham’s unique environment and heritage. Every contribution is helping to ensure that the planning process is properly scrutinised and that the future of Ham Marshes is decided fairly and transparently.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity and passion of local people,” said Cllr Josh Rowlands, Mayor of Faversham, “It’s clear that Ham Marshes means a great deal to Faversham, as a space for nature, for walking, and for future generations. We’re nearly halfway there, but we need more help to reach our goal.”

The judicial review aims to ensure that all environmental, heritage, and planning considerations are fully respected before any irreversible decisions are made. Legal action of this kind is costly, which is why continued public support is vital.

Let’s keep the momentum going, Faversham.  Together, we can reach the £100,000 target and stand up for our natural heritage!
