Dear Stakeholder,
We are writing to let you know about our project to upgrade our gas network in South Street, Faversham. We are replacing our old metal gas mains and services with new plastic pipe. This essential work will ensure your community continues to receive a safe and reliable gas supply.
In consultation with Kent County Council, our contractor, WCB Utilities, who will be completing this project on our behalf, will start work on 7 February for approximately sixteen weeks. The project will be completed in phases.
Phase one – 7 February for approx. two weeks
Our engineers will start work in Colonels Lane, to ensure the safety of everyone around the work site, we will need to close the road from outside property number 75 to outside property number 87. Access will remain for residents and businesses. A diversion will be in place via Horseless Road, The Street, Stockers Hill, Nine Ash Lane, South Street, Kit Hill, Crouch Lane, Selling Road, Fox Lane.
We will also be working in Horselees Road (Hickmans Green) we will need to close the road at the junction with Colonels Lane to the Junction with Brickfield Lane. Access will remain for residents and a diversion will be in place as above
Phase Two – 14 February three weeks
Horselees lane (Hickmans Green) and Brickfield Lane, we will need to close Horselees Road (Hickmans Green) from the junction with Brickfiled Lane to Junction of Snake Lane.
Access will remain for residents and a diversion will be in place as above.
Phase Three – 21 February for approximately fourteen weeks.
Horselees Road / Dunkirk Road. Work will continue onto Dunkirk Road and close the road at the junction with Snake Lane to the junction with Scoggers Hill. Access will remain for residents and a diversion will be in place as above.
Phase four – 28 February for approximately three weeks.
We will move to South Street and close the road from the junction of Scoggers Hill to the junction of North Lane. Access will remain for residents and a diversion will be in place via Dunkirk Road/Horselees, Brickfield Lane, Nine Ash Lane, South Street, Kit Hill, Crouch lane, Selling Road and Fox Lane.
Phase five – 7 March for approximately two weeks
We will continue along South Street and close the road at the junction with North Lane to the junction of Kits Hill. Access will remain for residents and businesses and a diversion will be in place via Kits Hill, Crouch Lane, Selling Road and Fox Lane.
Phase six – 14 march for approximately three weeks
We will complete the work along South Street. We will need to close South Street from the junction with Kit Hill to the Boughton Church. Access will remain for residents and a diversion will be in place via Brenley Lane, Selling Road, Crouch Lane and Kit Hill.
Signs will be placed at the site of the closures to advise that businesses remain open as usual.
We understand that people can get frustrated by roadworks. However, we would not close a road unless it was unsafe not too.
We’re writing to residents and other local stakeholders to make them aware of our project and explain the details of our work. Please feel free to also share this information with anyone you think may be impacted by our project.
