Both SGN and their contract partner, WCB Utilities, appreciate that this year, Faversham has had a lot of gas pipe replacement projects and they would like to thank the community for their patience. Once these essential replacement works are completed, the new gas pipe has a reduced risk of a gas escape, ensuring that the community remain safe and have a reliable gas supply.
In consultation with Kent Highways, their contractor, WCB Utilities will start work on 16 May for approximately eight weeks.
The work will be carried out in phases as detailed below; In some roads, we will need to close the area around our works to ensure the safe access to our network of pipes. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses and signed diversions will be in place.
Brogdale Place/Brogdale Road
Our engineers will start work on 16 May in Brogdale place for approximately two weeks. We will also be working in Brogdale Road, we will need to close the road from the M2 Bridge to the junction with London Road and then the junction of Whitehill to the M2 Bridge. This work will last for approximately five weeks.
Porters Lane/Whitehill
From 30 May for approximately four weeks, we will need to close Porters Lane from the junction with Brogdale Road to outside property number 4. We will also be working in Whitehill, which we will need to close from the junction with Stalisfield Road to the junction with Brogdale Road for approximately six weeks.
Eastling Road/Stalisfield Road
We will be working in Eastling Road between the junction with Whitehill to outside number 1 Green Lees, and Stalisfield Road from the junction with Eastling Road to outside 1 Brook Meadow Cottages.
We will need to close the area around our work site from 13 June for approximately three weeks.
This work is part of several gas pipe replacement projects taking place in Faversham this year. We are aware of the disruption that traffic management can cause and would only apply to close a road if it was unsafe not to.
