Faversham Town Council is doing all it can to help residents during the Coronavirus outbreak

Faversham Town Council is doing all it can to help residents during the Coronavirus outbreak.

Councillors for all four wards that make up the town (Abbey, Priory, St Ann’s and Watling) are continuing to help residents in need whether to do with the restrictions put in place or with other issues.

Staff led by Town Clerk Louise Bareham are working from home progressing the Council’s work wherever possible and are manning a helpline for all Faversham residents, offering advice and signposting residents to Swale and Kent authorities and other agencies where appropriate.

The helpline is also receiving calls from people in other parts of the country who have elderly or vulnerable family or friends here.

The helpline number is 01795 503286. Mayor of Faversham, Alison Reynolds said, “Our staff have been amazing and are working hard every day to keep us our support for everyone who lives in Faversham. We are so grateful for all they are doing. Social distancing rules prevent councillors from getting out to meet residents as we usually would but we are still doing our best to help people with different issues by phone, letter and email.”

Council meetings have had to be suspended but councillors and the town clerk are informally meeting by video conferencing twice per week to discuss that latest developments and how the Town Council can help residents. A virtual town council meeting open to the public will take place on Monday 30th. Details are on the Council’s website. Banners advertising the helpline number have been put around the town.
